There are a total of approximately 60 countries in the world that are allowed to roam and stay visa-free in the European nations but now the continent is making some changes into its travel authorization system and introducing a latest visa-waiver system for this kind of citizens. Now, the citizens who were earlier allowed to enter the continent without having to carry their visa will now need ETIAS will be compulsory for entering Europe and the countries falling into Schengen border from 1st January 2021. 

There are a total of 26 countries that are a member of Schengen border countries. They include Italy, Germany, Finland, Iceland, Hungary, Austria, Sweden etc. The European Union has introduced this new travel Authorization system to ensure the safety of their nations and also to handle the immigration issues smoothly. 

The ETIAS will permit you to stay in Europe for three months at once without your visa. The validity of your ETIAS will be three years from the date of issue. But they will expire immediately in case your passport expires before it. You will need a valid passport for applying for this new visa waiver system. 

To apply for ETIAS visit the official site and fill out an application form. You will just need to fill the basic details for verification like your name, date of birth, place of birth, gender, nationality, etc. You will receive the decision about the approval of your ETIAS within minutes. The fees for applying for ETIAS will be 7 euros but it will be absolutely free if you are a minor (children below the age of 18) and old-age person (person above the age of 70). They will be compulsory for everyone regardless of age. 

The proposal of ETIAS was finalised in November 2016, but they will be in action from 2021. From 1st January 2021 onward no citizens that earlier did not need a visa will not be allowed to enter Europe without having approved ETIAS. The visitors who needs a visa to travel in Europe will remain unaffected with the introduction of this new travel authorization system. 

ETIAS will permit you to stay in European Nations for three months at once without a visa for business, travel, transit and medical purposes. That means you can not use your ETIAS for staying in Europe for education and employment purposes. 

Citizens of countries like Canada, the United States, New Zealand and Australia were allowed to visit the European nations visa-free. Including these, there are a total of 60 countries that did not need a visa to enter Europe but now they will need this new travel authorization system for visiting the European countries as well as the countries falling into the Schengen Border zone. 

The process of getting your ETIAS verified as not as complicated as getting your passport. You will not be asked to sit through interviews or have to go through complex verification process. But all you will need is a valid passport. You will be asked to show your ETIAS along with other travel documents at the boarding gate of destination country.
